St Mary's Church West Chiltington

Things to do in Horsham District

The Doomsday Book records of Cilletone, the Saxon name for West Chiltington, state that 'There is a Church'. The current church was built between 1100 and 1150, with the Chantry Chapel built in the 14th century and the spire (the most modern part of the building) added in 1602. The roof is of Horsham stone, and the roof timbers inside were originally covered by a plaster ceiling.
