Watersports to enjoy on hot days

A child kayaks on the River Arun

What better way to cool off on a sunny day than taking to the water? Here are some of our top picks for watersports right here in Horsham District.

Please check all individual websites before you visit to avoid disappointment: many venues are asking that you book before you arrive.

Kayak or canoe on the River Arun

Hire a kayak or canoe from Fluid Adventures,(pictured), who you'll find at Swan Bridge in Pulborough, and explore the River Arun. A calm, winding stretch of water offering plenty of wildlife and picnicking spots, the Arun is a great place to be on a sunny day. Just remember your hat and suncream.

Paddleboard at Southwater Country Park

Take to the lake at Southwater Country Park and hire a paddleboard from Southwater Watersports. The lake is a great option for beginners, and there are plenty of other activities available too, including kayaks and sailing.

Cool off in the shade afterwards with an ice cream from the park cafe.

Splash at Fishers Farm and Pavilions In the Park

Two options that are very popular with kids on hot days are the Fishers Farm Splash Pad and Pavilions In The Park swimming pool. Fishers Farm's Splash Pad has all sorts of showers, water toys and sprinklers to entertain little ones; the Billingshurst adventure park states that the Splash Pad will be open on hot days. Pavilions in The Park in Horsham Park has an outdoor rapids section that is particularly popular when the weather heats up.

And further afield...

Did you know there are two lidos within easy reach of Horsham District? Arundel Lido is to the west of the District, while Saltdean Lido is to the east by the coast. The outdoor pools are open each year for short seasons, and well worth a visit.
