World Book Day 2020 is on Thursday March 5, and this week's Inspire me post is dedicated to three fantastic bookshops in Horsham District. Browse the shelves, search for stories, and take a selfie with a shiny red train in our top picks...
106 High Street, Steyning BN44 3RD
Set inside a charming 18th-century building on Steyning High Street, Steyning bookshop is a friendly family-run store that specialises in children's books and local interest books, including walking guides and local history. You can't miss the children's section: there's a red story train in the middle of it! Packed with books, it'll delight your little one and make finding new stories even more exciting.
Look out for the shop's jam-packed Events programme too, incuding author events and workshops.
Billingshurst Lions Club bookshop
Jengers Mead, Billingshurst RH14 9NZ (closed on Sundays)
A true hidden gem of the District and a must for bookworms and bargain hunters is this Billingshurst secondhand bookstore. All proceeds from sales go to Billingshurst & District Lions Club to use for community projects. The shop is well-stocked with a range of well-priced books, with paperbacks priced from 80p. Children's books are much cheaper, making this an excellent place to take book-loving youngsters, especially if you're on a budget. And if you're visiting, why not take along some of your own old books to donate too?
The Carfax, Horsham RH12 1DW
The high-street giant has a corner home in Horsham town centre that is well worth a visit. The shelves and carefully curated tables are packed with staff reviews to help you make your next reading decision. Redeem your points on the Waterstones Plus loyalty card, read staff reviews and enjoy a coffee and cake in the cafe.
Waterstones Horsham is running a World Book Day Workshop on Thursday March 5 for pre-school and primary children.
