The last few months have been busy here at Greyhound; not only have we just launched our new website and produced an advert for Sky, but back in June we canned ASTRO L’s, our very first lager, on site and we finally achieved a long-standing ambition to have our brewery ‘played’! This was made possible by Dave Cottrell (drummer), Richard Horne (percussionist) and Mike Saunders of The Playroom, Arundel (recording/mixing).
Both of these events were recorded and this video is a wonderful compilation of both days with an original Greyhound Brewery soundtrack!

Tucked away on Church Lane Farm Estate near the village of Mannings Heath is Kissingate Brewery. The brewery is run by husband and wife team Gary and Bunny Lucas. They have won many awards at local and national level for their beers and most notoriously in 2018 learned that they had won best Sussex beer at the Sussex Beer Festival for the third year in succession. In total the brewery have won five times since they first showcased at the festival in 2012. This accolade means that our local brewery (albeit small in scale) is now producing the best beers in East & West Sussex. In 2015 Kissingate triumphed at national level too winning Silver in the Speciality Beer Category at The Great British Beer Festival with Black Cherry Mild. It is quite obvious that Gary & Bunny are passionate about producing high quality beers and do well to balance a busy brewing schedule with the hospitality side of the business too. It has to be said that the new Kissingate Taproom is full of delights with its unique hand stenciled floor, shiny blue resin bar top, starry night ceiling and a wood burner in the snug bar. Upstairs there is a minstrel’s gallery providing a comfortable space where private parties are held and other events such as Cream Tea Afternoons and Beer & Curry Nights. If beer is not your tipple then there are plenty of alternative beverages to choose from such as cider, wine, a selection of nano-distilled local gins, teas, coffee and soft drinks too. Food is on offer during opening times but please call the brewery to check availability or if you fancy something special prepared.
Kissingate is a lovely venue hosting many interesting events throughout the year. The venue does not operate at all like a pub due to shorter opening hours. Due to the pandemic the taproom is closed right now but there are plenty of outside spaces to enjoy your drinks safely. There is also a takeout counter offering an extensive range of cask fresh and bottled beers.
Gary & Bunny are wonderful hosts and always go that ‘extra mile’ to provide a warm and friendly welcome.

Cabin Pressure Spirits
Cabin Pressure Spirits are a husband and wife team based in Horsham, West Sussex. Thinking there must be a way to produce a more flavoursome gin, David set about experimenting in the garden shed. A year later, it turned out he was right! The couple rapidly up-scaled production and are busy sharing the results with gin lovers across the region. Read on to find out about the "Nano-Still", and how Cabin Pressure are using vacuum distillation to create gin of the highest quality.
Geographically Horsham is located at the heart of existing and emerging wine production in the South East of England. Nestled in the heart of England’s rolling South Downs in West Sussex, the beautiful Wiston Estate has been owned and managed by the Goring family since 1743 and is overseen today by Harry and Pip Goring. Pip’s long-held vision was to plant vines on the estate and the picturesque 6.5ha vineyard, which was planted in 2006 lying on a south-facing chalk escarpment similar to Champagne, is the fruit of her dream and tenacity. With winemaker Dermot Sugrue at the helm, the team produces award-winning English Sparkling wines of exceptional purity and finesse from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.

The vineyard open days are an adjusted version of the usual tour to accommodate guidelines. It includes a private tasting at the wine barn for your small group (of 2 or 3 wines, up to 6 adults from two households who know one another) hosted by Kirsty Goring, whose family run the estate.
The vineyard manager, James Mclean has curated a self-guided tour around the vineyard, and then you will be welcome to bring and enjoy a picnic in the vineyard if you would like. The cost is £10 per person but the value of the ticket can be then redeemed against a purchase of wine on the day, which will be sold at the cellar door price.
